Ruta del Este, PPP contractor in charge of the Eastern Pan-American Highway, together with the Ministry of Public Works, report:
• A partir del jueves 25 de julio se tendrá disponible la maquinaria para iniciar intervenciones en la vía, entre las comunidades de Cañitas de Chepo en la provincia de Panamá y Agua Fría N°1 en la provincia de Darién.
• The works include profiling and compacting the road course with the existing granular material using motor graders and compactors, with the aim of eliminating potholes and improving the regularity of the road. This will be done regularly to keep the road in better condition.
• It is important to remember that the project considers the rehabilitation, improvement and maintenance of the road, and has a duration of 18.7 years, divided into five stages: precedent, preconstruction, construction, operation and maintenance and reversal.
• It is currently in the pre-construction stage, which has an estimated duration of 12 months, where, among other activities, the designs, obtaining the environmental license, social agreements and execution of the first operation and maintenance activities will be carried out.
• After this, works will be carried out to rehabilitate and fine-tune the infrastructure, activities that are part of the construction stage.
